Project Example Leadership

Process support with small-group coaching

The HR division of a service provider company has observed that team leaders generally continue to act from the position of their former role as an expert in their given specialist field but only partially fulfill their actual leadership tasks. Moreover, in demanding, stressful situations they frequently tend to pass leadership responsibility on to the next higher level. ?Now, on the basis of a new job description for team leaders including a concrete definition of their leadership responsibilities, a process is to be set into motion in the course of which the team leaders are to be successively and increasingly actively guided into their responsible role as leaders. ?The team leaders are to receive ongoing support and assistance for this process in the form of intensive training and coaching in small groups. This is intended to lead to the fundamental acceptance of their leadership tasks and also to a positive approach to the new mission.

  • Development of the new job description for team leaders in cooperation the division management

  • Regular small-group coaching sessions over a period of two years

  • Initiation of peer consultation rounds with increasing responsibility and organization

  • Facilitation of semi-annual meetings of all the team leaders on the next higher management level
